Teaching at Harteværket

For inspiration

We have received the following assignment from Bakkeskolen. You can easily use the task in your teaching at Harteværket.
– Short story about Harteværket, which is given to the students.
– Based on that – and from a trip on their own around the Work and the rest of the area, the students must “tip” a 13´er.

You are free to download the assignments and print for your students.

Below you can see the different teaching courses for the different grade levels, as well as make an inquiry about teaching courses at Harteværket.

Hold a teaching course for your students at Harteværket

Harteværket, youth educations, primary schools, teacher educations and  LSUL  have in collaboration developed new teaching courses for use at Harteværket.
The courses are supported by the Region of Southern Denmark. You will find the courses on our website under “teaching”.

Harteværket does not yet have a school service and therefore no staff employed to be in charge of teaching. When you come as a school, it is your  own teachers who will be responsible for the teaching . You have the opportunity to borrow teaching materials from us. Remember that these must be booked. See conditions further down the page.

The practical:

When you come as a school / day care institution from Kolding municipality, it is free. If the school is not from Kolding municipality, it costs DKK 25 per. pers. (free school admission only applies on weekdays during our opening hours). It is possible as a school to get a school tour on site. This costs DKK 475 for approx. 30-40 minutes. tour. The price only applies to schools and not private companies.

All you have to do is notify your arrival in advance by mail, [email protected]

If you have not announced your arrival, full contract is paid (parent council is not covered by free admission).
This only applies if you have to use the water play board and enter the Work. You can still use the area freely without notifying your arrival.

If you do not attend an appointment, a no show fee of DKK 500 is paid. The bill is sent directly to the school, this applies to all schools and institutions.

Note, if there are events / arrangements / activities these must be paid for.

Turbines missioner

The teaching process is built around a girl named Turbine and her missions at the water playground at Harteværket.
She is called Turbine because the purpose is to teach students about the strengths of water and human utilization of water for different purposes.

The material is intended as a course that you as a teacher are responsible for when you come to Harteværket.
Harteværket does not have an actual school service and therefore does not have staff to teach students. But as a school, you are always welcome to move your teaching to Harteværket.

You will find both a teacher’s guide and student material below. As a teacher, you must print the courses for the students yourself.

We recommend the course to 3rd grade (possibly late in 3rd grade or first in 4th grade)

What can temperature tell us about energy?

Exploration trips at Harteværket

In this course, the students must include knowledge from 7th and 8th grade, where they look at the connection between energy and the watercourse and the landscape in Kolding Ådal.

We work with the 4 competencies: Research, Modeling, Perspective and Communication.

The course is divided into 2 phases – a research part and an immersion part, where the students investigate a problem in the energy field.

It is mainly in the immersion part that the IBSE didactics comes into its own in this process – however, there are small IBSE approaches in the studies at Harteværket.

In the study part, the students work with the concept of energy in different contexts.

Technology history

The teaching course is intended for students in schooling, who during a full-day visit to Harteværket work with physics, sports and history methods and issues based on the work’s history and location in the landscape.

As a teacher, you must print the courses for the students yourself.

Landscape formation

In this teaching process, work is done with the landscape formation at and around Harteværket.

The teaching course is aimed at 6th – 9th grade in the subjects nature and technology as well as geography.

The progression is stated in the subjects’ knowledge and skills goals below, as well as what the teaching should lead towards.

Water - now and tomorrow

Kolding Ådal, Hartesløjfen and the importance of water for Kolding.

We imagine a progressive course where the students through 7.-9. class expands their knowledge within especially the topics
Watercourses, Water Cycles, Photosynthesis and Respiration, Ice Age and Energy.

In 7th grade the focus is on the watercourses at Hartesløjfen, in 8th grade the focus is on the ice age landscape around Kolding, and in 9th grade the threads are gathered in a large energy topic.

Discovery trip at Harteværket

In ‘explorers’, there must be both a physics task and a technology analysis.

Before the day at Harteværket, preparation of general physics theory from home is required in between 2 and 6 hours, depending on how deep the substance is desired.

FOR STUDENTS IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

Technology history

The teaching course is intended for 1st grade students who, during a full-day visit to Harteværket, work with physics, sports and history methods and issues based on the work’s history and location in the landscape.

As a teacher, you must print the courses for the students yourself.

Physics

This course is aimed at teaching physics in upper secondary education.
It can be used in both physics C and the basic science course.

In the process, work is done with energy conversion and renewable energy sources.
The students come through an open approach to measurements, to be able to calculate the useful effect of Harteværket.
